This children's book is the life story of Gutzon Borglum, the sculptor of Mount Rushmore. It is a very accurate account of the actual events of his life which includes his difficult childhood, his escape from authorities in Georgia, and the creation of Mt. Rushmore. It has been a successful book since 1976. This is an excellent children's book written at the 5th grade level. It appeals to young children who are struggling in school for several reasons. The book is an easy read and the children identify with the difficulty that Gutzon Borglum experienced in childhood.
