The author, at the time of publication, was Sterling Professor of Physics at Yale University. He was a friend of Bart Giamatti, the Commissioner of Baseball. That friendship resulted in this book, which explains the physical elements of baseball re. pitching, hitting, the properties of bats, and more. Extremely well done, fascinating.
